The latest Corrective Services Quarterly statistics have been released. Of particular interest is the overall rise in the number of persons in custody by 40% in the last five years. Queensland remains the second largest contributor to the national prisoner population behind New South Wales. There was a notable increase in the female prisoner population by 52%. Finally another highlighted statistic relates to the large population of unsentenced persons throughout the country resting at 32%. This percentage is quite significant regardless of the decrease from the last quarter by 4%.
