PLS operates a volunteer run telephone advice line for community members on Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
Family and friends of prisoners seeking information about prison law matters can call this advice line on 3846 5290. Please note this number will only be answered on Wednesdays between 6:30pm and 7:30pm.
PLS operates a free telephone advice line from prison on Tuesdays & Thursdays between 9:00am to 1:00pm.
Prisoners can call PLS using the Arunta Prisoner Telephone System (PTS) by:
1. entering their Inmate ID number
2. entering their four digit PIN
3. entering *#05
Prisoners who have difficulties contacting us through the PTS can also try:
- speaking to the correctional officer in their unit
- speaking to the correctional centre counsellor (if they need special help and you think the counsellor should call on their behalf).
- writing to PLS at the address listed above.
PLS does not practice in criminal law and cannot provide advice or representation to prisoners about their criminal charges. Prisoners seeking advice in relation to criminal charges should contact Legal Aid Queensland or the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service.
